Climate-controlled car storage in Dubai: one operator prints a temperature

Most facilities say climate controlled. Only Parc Fermé states a range, 23 to 25 °C. For the rest, ask what the number is.

Mean daily maximum in °C at Dubai International Airport, 1991 to 2020 normals. The dashed line marks the storage temperature in Banner's battery figure. Table on Wikipedia, NOAA as source. The same article puts average highs in the suburbs at about 43 °C.

Dubai's normal daily high passes 40 °C in July and August and sits right on it in June. That is airport data, and the suburbs run hotter.

Heat speeds up a battery's decline: Battery University says self-discharge typically doubles with every 10 °C. Banner puts an AGM battery stored at 40 °C at about half its capacity after four months.

Then there is the sun. In an Arizona State University study, dashboards averaged about 69 °C within an hour in full sun and about 48 °C in shade. Arizona is not Dubai, but it shows that shade alone leaves plenty of heat.

What each operator actually says

What to ask, in plain words

  1. What temperature do you hold in August, and what is the humidity? A good operator will have the answer ready.
  2. Do you log it, and can I see the log? A number with records behind it is worth more than a phrase.
  3. Is the whole building cooled, or only some rooms? The Vault VIP and Aeon MySpace both sell cooled and uncooled space at different prices.
  4. What happens during a power cut? None of the pages read for this site answers that.

Is it worth paying more?

At Aeon MySpace, the only place printing both rates, climate costs AED 1,000 a month more than an indoor bay: AED 2,200 against AED 1,200. For a family SUV parked for six weeks, that is hard to justify. Consider it for a soft-top, a leather interior, a car with rubber you can't easily replace, or a whole Gulf summer.

Vachi Storage publishes 20 to 25 °C, humidity under 55% for its general storage units, one of the few numbers in this market. Its car page calls the spaces climate-controlled and dust-free without repeating the figure, so ask whether the car floor runs at the same band when you book a car space.

Questions owners ask

What temperature should a stored car be kept at?

This site found no manufacturer or regulator figure specific to Dubai storage. The only operator benchmark on a car storage page is Parc Fermé's 23 to 25 °C. Banner and Exide agree that cooler storage slows a battery's self-discharge.

Which car storage in Dubai is climate controlled?

Fifteen listings here use climate language, including Unit03, Car Safe, Approved Storage, Safe My Car, FoxBox, The Vault VIP (one floor), Aeon MySpace (climate rooms) and Extra Space. Only Parc Fermé prints a figure.

Is covered parking the same as climate control?

No. Covered parking blocks direct sun and some dust, while the air around the car stays at outside temperature. Ask whether the space is actively cooled, and whether humidity is managed as well.
